Nate Vaughn is a private eye working the underbelly of the City of Angels, chasing missing addicts and insurance cheats while looking for the one thing he can't find: a case that means something.
Then artist Max Larson asks him to find the woman in a portrait he drew. But Nate finds himself in a frame-up after Max dies under suspicious circumstances.
With the cops breathing down his neck and an ominous corporation ready to hang the rap on him, Nate has one way out: find the mystery woman in the portrait and clear his name before the walls close in.
THE VISION
Can you escape the echoes of the past? The paranoia cinema of the 1970s has always fascinated me. Films like The Parallax View and The Conversation capture a sense of impending danger from an often unseen threat.
That territory is ripe for the personal torment of 1940s film noir, and for questions that feel more urgent in a world of social media, surveillance, and disconnectedness.
Los Angeles, with its deep roots in noir and a glittering surface that hides real isolation, is the place to tell this story.

The team
Director / Writer: Wade Patterson is a Los Angeles-based producer and director originally from Jackson, Mississippi. Over more than a decade in the industry, Wade has built a reputation for hands-on producing and on-set expertise, helping bring ambitious independent projects to life. His feature film Death Cipher, which he wrote, produced, and directed, is now streaming on Tubi. His short documentary Tunnel Love, which follows a homeless couple living in the tunnels beneath Las Vegas, now has over 1 million views on YouTube.

Questions
Where does the money go?
Five percent goes to pre-production, 70% to production, 20% to post-production, and 5% to a contingency. The budget chart above shows the exact split.
Is this a donation?
Yes. Gifts support the making of the film in exchange for the listed incentives. They do not buy ownership of the film or a share of its profits.
Are gifts tax-deductible?
No. Gifts support a film production rather than a registered charity, so they are not tax-deductible.
What if you don't reach $10,000?
Gifts are processed as they come in, so every dollar goes into the film. If we fall short, we will scale the production to fit the budget and tell supporters exactly what changed.
What happens if you go past $10,000?
Anything beyond the goal unlocks the stretch goals above, starting with an original score at $12,500.
When do I get my incentive?
Updates and behind-the-scenes video come during production. Incentives that need the finished film, like the digital download and the private screening, arrive after post-production wraps in summer 2027. We will email every supporter with timing.
How will my name appear in the credits?
After you give, we will email you to confirm exactly how you want your name to read.
Is my payment secure?
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
